 Ed (also known as Ted) enlisted in the Air Force in February 1975 and attended basic training at Lackland AFB, TX in August of the same year.  Because of his prior service experience in the Civil Air Patrol, he by-passed all but two weeks of basic training and graduated with the rank of A1C.   Ed’s first assignment was Basic Loadmaster School at Sheppard AFB, TX and then moved on to Altus AFB, OK in Nov 75 for training at the C-141 basic school.   After a brief stop at Fairchild AFB, WA for survival school, Ed arrived at Charleston AFB, SC and signed into the 41st MAS on April 12, 1976.

 In September 1979 Ed was assigned to the 437th Aerial Delivery Support Branch, 437th Aerial Port Squadron  and spent the next 13 years as a Joint Airdrop Inspector.   In October 1992 Ed was assigned back to the 14th Airlift Squadron and became part of the Squadron Operations Team as well as flying line missions.   In November 1994 Ed was reassigned to the 15th Airlift Squadron as their Chief of Squadron Operations.  He held this position until retiring in March 1996.

 He is currently employed by the Medical University of South Carolina as an Electronic Medical Records Systems Analyst.

 Ed and his wife, Beth, have three children and three grandchildren.
